BETSY HILL FOWLER
CHAMPION TURNED CAMP MUM
Betsy Hill Fowler, wife of Nick and a former ladies IORK champion, is now known as the "camp mum" of IORK. Her nurturing presence and support are invaluable to the team, helping to create a positive and welcoming environment for everyone involved. Betsy’s competitive spirit and dedication to the sport make her an integral part of the IORK family, as she continues to support the growth of the championship and ensure that every participant has a positive and rewarding experience.
DAN KENNELLY
FROM MANAGER TO "MOUTH OF THE SOUTH"
Dan Kennelly’s karting journey began as a manager at Supa Karts and as one of the founders of the CKT racing league. His extensive experience and deep understanding of the sport made him a perfect fit as one of IORK’s head officials. In 2023, recognising his lively personality and natural charisma, Dan transitioned to the role of event commentator. Not only is he known as the "Mouth of the South" for his engaging commentary, but he also proved his skills on the track by winning the over 105 kgs category in IORK 2023. Dan’s passion for karting and dynamic presence make him a fan favourite and a key part of the IORK experience.
MARK O'CARROLL
THE MASTER MECHANIC
At the heart of IORK’s operations is Mark O’Carroll, our chief mechanic. Mark has been part of the team at Pro Karts for about 7 years. With his expertise in kart performance and maintenance, he ensures that every kart is race-ready and up to the high standards expected at IORK events. His meticulous attention to detail and commitment to safety and performance are crucial to the smooth running of our races, allowing drivers to compete confidently and competitively.
NICK FOWLER
THE VISIONARY FOUNDER
Nick Fowler, the founder of IORK, Pro Karts, and Rental Karts New Zealand, has been a key figure in New Zealand’s karting scene since 2006. A former Super Stock Champion, Nick's deep-rooted passion for motorsport has driven the growth of these ventures and the establishment of IORK as one of the country’s premier karting championships. His vision is to create a competitive yet welcoming environment for drivers of all ages and skill levels, fostering a strong and inclusive karting community.
TOM GRIFFIN
MENTOR AND RULE ENFORCER
Tom Griffin, our Head Race Official and Track Operations Manager, is the backbone of our race day operations. With 12 years of experience in the rental kart industry, Tom is responsible for policing our race rules and keeping the event on schedule throughout the weekend. His passion extends beyond racing—Tom is deeply committed to helping others grow, whether it's mentoring young drivers or supporting the development of staff. His dedication to fostering personal and professional growth makes him a cornerstone of the IORK family and an essential part of every IORK event.
BEN FRENCH
CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS & SCHEDULING EXPERT
Ben French’s journey with Pro Karts began in the mid-2000s. After a decade away, he rejoined the team three years ago, bringing with him a renewed passion for the sport. As head of championship points and a key assistant in formatting grids and race schedules, Ben plays a crucial role in the smooth running of IORK events. His passion for IORK and rental karting drives his commitment to ensuring the team is on track and that drivers are gridded up quickly. Ben works behind the scenes, assisting Nick Fowler in getting events ready well before race day and keeping all events on schedule. He also assists Tom Griffin in maintaining the flow of large events. Ben’s love for the sport and the community shines through in everything he does, making him an indispensable part of the team
MAHLIE FOWLER
LIFTING SPIRITS, CHASING SNACKS, WINNINGS HEARTS.
Mahlie, our beloved team dog, is an essential part of the IORK crew, always lifting spirits and giving everyone something to smile about. Whether she’s offering some much-needed comfort or hanging out near the food, Mahlie’s presence adds a special touch to the event, reminding us all to take a moment to enjoy the experience.
