🚦 Driver Spotlight: Casey McConnon 🚦

Some drivers wait for perfect conditions. Nelson's Casey McConnon would rather see the rain clouds roll in.

A familiar face at Pro Karts Nelson's monthly racing league, Casey has spent countless laps honing his racing skills and building experience behind the wheel. In fact, he's raced at the track so often that wet weather has become part of the appeal, with the added challenge of

finding grip and mastering slippery conditions making race day even more exciting.

Now, after years of enjoying racing through films and video games, Casey is taking the next step by making his IORK debut in the Under 69.9kg category.

Working as a garage door installer Casey brings a practical mindset and strong work ethic to everything he does. While he might joke that his biggest weakness is simply being short, he'll be hoping his experience around Pro Karts Nelson gives him an edge when the championship gets underway.

His motorsport inspiration comes from an unexpected source: Lightning McQueen (impeccable taste!). But behind the playful answer sits a genuine passion for racing and a dream shared by many competitors - one day lining up at either the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans or the iconic Bathurst 1000.

Having raced at tracks and karting venues across New Zealand, Casey lists Kartsport Dunedin as his favourite circuit, and now he's ready to test himself against some of the country's best rental kart racers.

With plenty of laps under his belt and a love for racing in all conditions, Casey is a newcomer who could surprise a few people when the lights go out at IORK 2026.
