Some people enjoy karting. Others live and breathe it. Few embody that passion more than Nelson's Lucas Petrie.
Returning for his second IORK championship, Lucas is one of the biggest advocates for rental karting you'll ever meet. Whether he's working at Pro Karts Nelson, competing in the monthly CKT Racing League, talking motorsport with friends, or following the latest racing action from around the world, racing is never far from his mind.
Inspired by attending V8 Supercars events as a child and by New Zealand motorsport star Scott McLaughlin, Lucas has developed a genuine love for all forms of racing.
From endurance events to grassroots karting, if it has wheels and an engine, chances are Lucas is interested.
Having reached the semi-finals in IORK 2025, Lucas is determined to take another step forward this year. But beyond the results, he's passionate about what IORK represents: bringing together drivers from around New Zealand to compete, improve, and share their love of racing.
For Lucas, IORK isn't just another event on the calendar - it's one of the highlights of the year. With local knowledge, growing experience, and enthusiasm that's impossible to miss, don't be surprised if he's one of the loudest supporters of the championship both on and off the track.
One thing is certain: nobody will be more excited to be on the grid than Lucas. We're looking forward to seeing what he can achieve this year.
