Meet Mason Roberts, a 13-year-old Nelson racer who's already got plenty of experience chasing competition and speed! š
Mason is a student at Waimea College and has been racing at Nelson since he was just 9 years old, originally getting behind the wheel of a two-seater go-kart with his dad. What started with constantly trying to beat Dad quickly turned into a serious love of racing! šļø
That passion for karting has also helped lead Mason into speedway, where he now races a Youth Ministock. He'll be bringing that speedway experience to IORK for his first campaign, competing in the 18 & Under category.
His racing heroes are Morgan Frost and Max Verstappen, and he's already got some serious ambitions of his own. Mason's ultimate goal is to become 1NZ in a speedway class, while his biggest racing achievement so far has been competing in the Palmy Teams Champs.
From trying to beat his dad in a go-kart to racing Youth Ministock, Mason has already packed plenty into his young racing career. Now he's taking on a new challenge at IORK! š„
With his competitive streak, speedway background and plenty of time ahead of him to develop as a racer, Mason is definitely one to keep an eye on in the 18 & Under field.
