🚦 Driver Spotlight: Andrew Barber 🚦

With 20 years of competitive karting under his belt, Tauranga's Andrew Barber is certainly no stranger to life behind the wheel.
Andrew first got involved in karting after watching the Tauranga street race in 2005, before beginning his own racing journey the following year.
Since then, he's raced all over the North Island across multiple categories, competing at club level and building two decades of experience in the sport.
These days, Andrew works as a Workshop Manager at Truckworks Mechanical and has stepped back from some of the more serious competition to enjoy club-level racing. But don't let that fool you - he still knows how to keep the rest of the field either "entertained or nervous."
Andrew discovered IORK while holidaying in Nelson in 2022 and has been a regular ever since. His IORK record is seriously impressive: 2nd in the 100kg+ category in 2023, 1st in 2024, and another 2nd-place finish in 2025. In 2024, he even took on the challenge of racing in two other categories alongside his championship-winning campaign.
With a racing career spanning two decades, Andrew has competed at Bay Karts, ACE Motorsport, Pro Karts Nelson and numerous Kartsport NZ venues. His favourite track is Pro Karts Nelson, where he first discovered IORK.
A fan of Bathurst and the Indy 500 and a motorsport admirer of Scott McLaughlin, Andrew's goal is to keep enjoying racing for as long as possible 🙌
After two decades in competitive karting, there's still plenty of racing left in Andrew. We can't wait to see what he brings to the grid this year!
